FamilySearch's 'Full-Text' Search is a Game Changer!

While researching my family name this morning, I came across a new person, born in 1730, who I didn't have in my tree. What is interesting about Rocco Vito Salvatore Misseri is that his parents, Cesare Misseri and Rosa Corpora, only had one child that I knew about: Margherita Lo Misseri (born 23 Oct 1714 in Carini). Now that I discovered Rocco Vito Salvatore Misseri (born 7 Dec 1730 in Palermo), I now will continue to do research on this family because there has to be other children born between 1714 and 1730. But I will not be looking hard in the Carini records, but more in the Palermo baptism records. The way that I discovered this person, is by using "Full-Text Search" on FamilySearch. It's a game changer. Thanks FamilySearch.org!

So, this is a reminder for all those that do research:
  1. If you don't find other children for a family, think outside the box and search outside of Carini in the neighboring towns or cities.
  2. And if you haven't tried using "Full-Text Search" feature on FamilySearch, you really need to give it a try. There is lots to be discovered.

Here are the details of the birth record I found:
  • Rocco Vito Salvatore Misseri
  • born: 6 Dec 1730
  • baptized: 7 Dec 1730
  • parents: Cesare & Rosa Corpora
  • place: Palermo (city)

Well, 'Full-Text' Search comes through again for me and this time, it is for the death record for Rocco Vito Salvatore Misseri.

It's really amazing to use the newest technology and have it work for you. And after playing with FamilySearch.org's 'Full-Text' Search feature, I have come to use another option built into by using the Image Group Number (DGS) feature in the search box. If you know you are getting results with the certain record group, trying to add the number to your searches and it will just search within that group of images. Also, try using the Filters to narrow down the years or whatever works for you.

Here are the details of the death record I found:
  • Rocco Misseri
  • father: Cesare
  • death: 26 Jul 1733
  • place: Palermo (city)
